Excellent read, worthy of a Jim Butcher Novel

The usual time it takes for me to get into a new book world is usually 50 or so pages. After the first twenty I couldn't bare to put it down. Excellent characters that develop even in the first in the first novel, of I hope of many more. Amazing character chemistry, and engaging (and often times surprising) plot. I think the last 1/3 of the book is just *action*. Absolutely love it. Yearning for more. Thank you Mr Butcher.

Very enjoyable, perfect getaway for a long weekend.

Very good characters and world-building, reminiscent of the Firefly TV series (but more Elizabethan/Victorian steampunk rather than Wild West.) I enjoyed the perspective of the opposing military forces. I was a little unsatisfied with the female villain; the limitations of her power didn't quite make sense to me. I would read a sequel.

A Little Long

This probably could have been edited down, and it's not Jim Butcher's finest work, but I'm still happy I read it, and there's some good stuff to be had here. I love when we're privy to an animal's thoughts, and they're used as comic relief when it's done well. I think my favorite thing about this book, and probably what made it so worth reading was Rowl, the cat. There were definitely sections that drug for me, but the rest was so good, all can very nearly be forgiven.
