Fun read - not for geography though!

This was a delightful book, with such a fun character on an exciting adventure. Unfortunately we read this as part of a study of Antarctica and it was more of a study in how little research the author did on this area. Maybe MY research is off, but the book talked about it getting dark every night, and the sun coming up each morning - that doesn't happen that far from the equator. They also talked about how much snow was falling and I thought it got some of the least precipitation of anywhere on the planet. The book described how flat it was, with no animals or rocks, but then mentioned that South America was the closest thing (maybe they came from there? We don't know), so they must be on the peninsula and therefore would have seen rocky cliffs and plenty of wildlife, right?!
