The 7 Step Diabetes Fitness Plan: Living Well and Being Fit with Diabetes, No Matter Your Weight

Most of the 18.2 million Americans currently living with diabetes have been advised by their doctors, or other health-care providers, that weight loss is essential for them to control their condition and stay healthy. However, the vast majority of people fail miserably at dieting, ultimately regaining the pounds they manage to lose. Informative

Lots of information that is useful to anyone who has or is interested in the needs of a diabetic.

Great program for anyone, not just diabetics

I loved this book. Not only does it tell you why you should exercise, but it also gives different programs, tells you what goes on when you exercise, the 2 main types of exercise, and the effects on your body of both types. The author doesn't get carried away with the program--I'm not trying to be a weight lifter, after all, but exercise is greatly beneficial, especially to diabetics. The only thing this book can't do is start you on their program.

Exercise is most important

From this book you will learn that exercise alone can help control blood sugar even if weight loss is not significant. When you can manage both weight loss and exercise, it will be easier to maintain control of your blood sugar regardless of what medications you may need to take. If you have Diabetes, this book deserves to be in your library.

Great & Compact

This is an excellent book by a true expert. Packed with information on all aspects of exercising to maintain control of diabetes. Like others (Dr. Steven Blair of Cooper Institute in Dallas), Dr. Colberg believes that the key is to get moving and exercising. If the pounds come off or not is a secondary concern. If you have to choose between dieting and exercising, pick the latter every time! Also appreciated that Professor Colberg has written the book in low-cost paperback format.

Breaking the sedentary Inertia

Hi Fellow Readers! I'm currently reading this book now, but I would like to share some initial thoughts with you. First of all the fact Dr. Colberg mentions, that you can be overweight and fit. This is very interesting because you set your focus to having a better Blood Glucose control and being healthy not just losing pounds. I have always been a very sedentary person and the approach she has on step 2 "Get up and Get Moving" and afterwards on Step 3 "Become even more fit" is a natural way to begin and increase your activity levels. I'm an avid searcher for better ways to take charge of my diabetes, to live a good life, and enjoy the love of my family!! This book seems to fit me perfectly as a ring, on all the important issues "empowered people" can do to personally collaborate with our Health Team.
