This works for me...

This book really works. I like how she discusses Sumo Wrestlers and their eating habits. I have tried to starve myself in the morning only to gorge in the evening. No weight loss there! I only gained weight with that method. I have not been eating past 3PM and I have been exercising more. Just jogging, walking, or the eliptical. I will start with some Yoga at my gym and maybe some pilates soon. I am more motivated to exercise when I don't eat past 3PM. Weird. I have WAY more energy in the evening and I get so much stuff done. If there is something that I want to eat and it is past 3PM, than I save it for the next day. I usually find the next day that I don't want it as much or I am not as famished as I was the evening before. I think that we just naturally eat more in the evening.... I have lost 6 pounds in 5 days and I am eating whatever I want. I just stop eating at 3PM. I look really healthy and not bloated. Yes, I try to have some greens and a bit of fruit every day and I avoid wheat (due to an allergy) but I was 194 when I started this and now I am 188. I look GOOD (not trying to brag, but hey, this is cool). I am more clear headed and feel better about my body. I have been having 1 glass of wine each evening. It was hard the first day, but it is actually very easy. You have a few hunger pangs here and there but they go away and than you wake up thinner...AND you get to eat what you were craving for dinner.... for breakfast if you want to. This works. Try it. Just try not eating past 3PM. I like the book, and I think the author is great. She gives some good advice and I love how she discusses longevity and, once again Sumo Wrestlers and their diet/lifestyle. Try it!!

Makes Sense!

I have only read the first chapter on the website, and will be reading through the whole book once it arrives, but this just makes sense. Having already tried this method without realizing it- I can attest that it does indeed work. Back in 2004 when I was a bride-to-be i tried many diets, but needed to lose weight to be the picture perfect bride. What ended up working for me, simply by trial and error, was not eating dinner, and working or walking on the treadmill instead. Initially, the fun of planning my wedding took priority over dinner, but soon once i started losing pounds and feeling better, I realized my prayers were answered. I did indeed slim down quite a bit, but it was the healthiest I had ever felt in my life. I admit to chewing gum now and then or having some mints to get me through this time, but 3.5 years later, after making some changes in my life (Genotype diet), I am now focused on the quality of my food, and how it affects me- no more gum or artificial garbage. Unfortunately, over the years, eating dinner once again and with the stress of life, i gained back 25lbs :( but now, with the discovery of this book, I am very confident that I will slim down, get healthy, feel better and have more energy and time in the evening for a day that never seems to have enough hours. Thank you in advance. I will report back on my progress. :)

Well-informed, thoughtful, and thought-provoking

Debra Lawrence's "The 3:00 P.M. Secret" is exceptionally informative and enjoyable. In presenting a program of good nutrition and exercise designed to produce a healthy, productive lifestyle, the author has sifted through hundreds of scientific-journal articles. She seamlessly incorporates findings from those articles into her writing to support her detailed, practical recommendations about nutrition, exercise, sleep, and aging. I found Chapter 6, on "Successful Aging," to be especially thought-provoking. It has a wealth of fascinating information about the effects of good nutrition and exercise (mental exercise as well as physical) in helping to avoid diseases such as Alzheimer's and in promoting fitness and creativity even in old age. The book is well organized and logically presented. Its style is lively and engaging. I recommend it.

UPDATED - LOST IT, KEEPING IT OFF, LIVING MY DREAMS

The 3:00 PM Secret is a strong combination of inspiration and information that appeals to both heart and mind. It has motivated and equipped me to make choices in 'when I eat', as well as in my nutrition, exercise, sleeping, and other patterns that have already produced a weight loss of nearly 25 lbs, a lean, more rested body, and great optimism toward the future. I'm feeling and acting stronger, younger, and just plain happier. I know many many people whose bodies can't keep up with their dreams, who have repeatedly tried and failed to slim down, and have just given up hope. I am recommending Ms. Lawrence's book to them (in some cases giving them copies) because I want them to succeed, too! I must also add that one feature that sets this book apart from others is the amazing amount of research that backs up the author's propositions. While the text does not read at all like a text book, it will remain a wonderful reference book, and the numerous footnotes that tie back to scientific findings gave me confidence that I was receiving sound and proven advice and information, worthy of my reliance. I know it seems difficult to change our living habits, even though we know our current practices are unhealthy and sometimes lethal. This little book will show you how to live a healthy, hopeful, happy life, and have the body that will carry you through all the wonderful adventures that lie before you. I have EASILY held my weight loss and am down another five pounds. I am at my perfect weight. I don't even have to try to keep my weight where I want it - it is just so natural and easy. Something really does change with your desire when you follow this method, and you no longer need to fight temptation, you just don't want to eat at night or eat unhealthy foods anymore. I feel sorry for and frustrated with people I care about who are overweight since they think they cannot live without their nightly dinner ritual. I see them waddling around with their health issues and aging bodies, while I feel more youthful and athletic every day. I also highly recommend the new 3: 00 PM SECRET 10-DAY DREAM DIET.

THE LAST BOOK I'LL EVER NEED!

Yes, this is definitely the last book I will ever need to buy on weight control! I am updating this review because I have had more time to live this wonderful lifestyle. I have bought dozens of weight-loss and diet books, and I have tried those expensive programs - some temporarily work but I always went back to my usual habits and usual routine and usual fat person. Some programs and diets that worked for a short time were probably injurious to my health, but none solved the weight problem I've dealt with most of my adult life. The 3:00 PM SECRET has educated and motivated me in a fun, interesting, and positive manner about WHY I need to pay attention to what, why, and when I put food into my mouth. It has given me a larger perspective of my life beyond mindless instant gratification. The book's innovative eating style is completely unique, and I love the comparison that is made with Sumo Wrestlers - it makes so much sense. I also love the little fictional story that greets you at the beginning of the chapters - it brings out certain points the author is making. This is the most important book I have ever read! I have finally found a way to control my weight that will work for life! I wish it was required reading in medical schools. If so, our doctors would have a better idea how to advise and treat their patients with the growing numbers of obesity related diseases. Praise to Mrs. Lawrence for showing us the way to achieve a healthy and happy life!
