The 100th Customer

I first discovered this book at the library and checked it out for my three year old son. Even at three he loved it and I had to recheck it out several times. I decided that it is worth having in my son's personal library. The message is important and my son now automatically repeats the lines "it is more satisfying to have a full heart than a full stomach". My son will continue to enjoy it at through early grade school when he learns to read it all by himself. It's a gem.

My children and I loved this book. The illustrations are beautiful and the message was inspiring. My children (ages 3 and 4) did not get the full text the first time through, I found that as we started to read it they asked more questions. Why was the little boy counting pebbles, why was the grandmother not eating... It lent a great background for discussion of what it means to do selfless acts. Such a refreshing change from faires, princesses and superheroes.

We checked this book out from the library - my 4 1/2 year old and almost 3 year old LOVE it. And we as very picky parents (we like children's books that are real quality) love it too. It is a very heartwarming story of a little boy who puts his grandmother first and a caring group of animals who put a little boys first. It's about caring for others and has enough plot and excitement for our two boys too. They asked for it over and over. We're ordering a copy now!
