Love the courage of this woman and the protectiveness of her brother. A time when a woman could still act like a woman and have a man's position. A woman that can still have a godly attitude and trust in her Creator to make it all right knowing God is in control and all she has to do is work the way she wants to and trust in all she can be for God. I've read all of Cathy Hake's full-length novels and almost all of her novellas. This one is as full of interesting historical detail, fun, inspiration, loveable characters, and plot twists as any of them. Gooding, Texas got so much more than it expected when Taylor Bestman arrived as the new doctor. A female doctor, that is. As alluded to in the title, this was yet another great book by CMH! I have yet to find a book of hers that I haven't liked, and I have them all! I do warn the readers, however, that you have to read the other stories in the series in order to keep the characters straight.
