Book Overview

This is a tale of a young man's struggle against a system that consigned him to a destiny of poverty, crime, and hopelessness from birth. Set against the mean streets of L.A.'s South Bay 'hoods, the book is populated by a cast of vivid characters, including Tupac Shakur, Snoop's one true friend and musical soulmate, cut down at the beginning of a brilliant career, and Suge Knight, whose Death Row Records brought street-level credibility--and gangland...

Don't expect a bio as I did. Interesting insight from an all time rapper I don't agree with.

As he himself says, I'm not gonna lie. And if he truly believes that, he's a complete hypocrite. The reason I'm rating 3 stars is because I want to know more about him and through this book I could. I don't buy it, sorry. Recent songs prove he lies. It was for the money and status, and it still is.

Snoop's truth.

Whether you like his music or not, this book provides a clear window on the life of a youngster growing up in the 'hood. Some of Snoop's insights are deeply perceptive and the book certainly reads as if we are getting the truth according to Snoop. A quick read, but not a shallow one. This middle-aged cracker truly appreciated hearing the way it is from Snoop's point of view. I learned from him. That's what reading is all about for me. Hey, Snoop, you elevated and educated me. Thanks!

An Interesting Truthful Account

I found this to be a truthful and insightful slice of life into the world and mind of a rap artist. Of course this one happens to be an international star, so it becomes even more fascinating. I work with rap artists and was pleasantly surprised at Snoop's depth and honesty in this book. He's an intelligent man who is in charge of his own destiny and who has made decisions in his life that have brought him supreme knowledge of himself (eventhough at times the lessons were painfully brutal). I found this a quick and intriguing read and didn't put it down til it was done. I then had the opportunity to meet him by phone afterwards and found his voice in the book to be exact reality. One of the better books available by or about a recording artist.

Great job, Snoop!

This is a very interesting book on the life of Snoop Dogg. It really gives you the behind-the-scenes of Snoop Dogg's life. This autobiography made me like and appreciate Snoop Dogg and his rap a lot more.

A very honest and entertaining book

While I do not agree with everything Snoop Dogg writes (He blames racism on too many things) I did find his honesty very refreshing. This is really a great book that should be read by anyone interested in a success story that is also surprisingly uplifting

SNOOP REALLY DID GOOD JOB :)

ME, I HAVE ALWAYS BEEN A SNOOP DOGG FAN. BUT AFTER READING SNOOP'S BOOK I THINK THAT I BECAME AN EVEN BIGGER FAN. I LOVED IT. NOT ONLY WAS IT DETAILED AND ALL ABOUT SNOOP, IT WAS BY SNOOP. SO ME BEING A READER I GOT TO SEE WHAT SNOOP THOUGHT ABOUT VARIOUS THINGS THAT HAPPENED TO HIM IN HIS LIFE. AND IT WAS NOT A BORING BOOK IN SOME PARTS IT WAS FUNNY. SO IF YOU WANT TO READ ABOUT SNOOP, BUT YOU WANT TO READ A GOOD BOOK THIS IS THE ONE BOOK THAT I'M TRULY RECOMMENDING. ENJOY!
