I used this book for my first field experience. It was very resourceful. The book contains so much information that helps guide you through working in a center. I truly agree that motivation is the key and this is something every teacher should be able to produce. Whether through conversations with the children, hands on experiences, will help motivate a child. All children like to learn. As much as we can, we must guard against cutting off the child lost in work: it's time to clean up now....it's time for everyone to come hear a story,(pg. 63) Then why do we cut children off all the time? Teachers should be teaching in small groups to gain the attentions of her students. Then why do we teach in large group sizes? All children benift from having an aid in the classroom. It is not the teacher who is gaining. Why do some Kindergarten classrooms have no aid? This book talks about a lot of good practices that I don't see being used in all places. I highly recommened this book to anybody in the Early Childhood Field.
