Took me less then 21 days to make this review

This thing is the bomb digity! It tells you all you need to know on how to make games in Javascript.It even teaches how to make Multiplayer games in which the users interact with each other. Very good deal.

A excellent book for programmers of all ability. It let me ramke my favorrite games from the 80's

excellent book but obviously very old (Java 1.0)

I think it's an excellent book, however it's about Java 1.0. Also, it assumes you know nothing about both Java programming and game design in general -- so it is less useful for people with any experience in either.

TY, Java Game Programming, a good starter book, fun to use

While I am still only in week one, I tend to have too many books going at once, I have learned from and enjoyed reading this book so far. The code is easy to follow, the samples are easy to modify as directed in the exercises. I do know and use C++, but most C/C++ games books focus so much on infrastructure for dealing with image data that the core of game programming, simulation of another world, gets lost. Java is a great way to cut through all the mist enshrouding gaming that is caused by managing and displaying image data. While a heavy duty game may require C/C++, with this book and Java you can get a great, hands-on start in gaming, a Java work out, and the added bonus of multi-user gaming via Java networking classes. The one thing I would add to this book is a section on sprite development. This task is an art that needs some tips for the low end developer who doesn't have cash for artists. Also, I think the book could use a section on tile based scrolling of game backgrounds since that would allow low cost transmission of large worlds. Still, its a great start so far, and my peeks ahead seem to confirm this feeling
