Taylor ST Memories

Brought back lots of memories. Even if I didn't recognize the faces, I knew a lot of the names! Recognized a few school friends, though. It was a fantastic neighborhood to grow up in. It's a no brainer, easy read pictorial book. Wish there were even more pictures.

Book review

Taylor Street was well received by the recipient of the gift who was a past resident of this street. It brought back fine memories he said.

Tri-Taylor

I was very lucky to have lived on Taylor Street in the Tri-Taylor neighborhood (Taylor and Claremont) from the time I was 2 months until I was 15. I bought this book primarily for my Uncle because he is Italian and was born and raised in the same neighborhood, so I thought it had historical value for him. Even though I am not Italian, the book was interesting, informative and very touching, especially the section "The other Taylor Street: Tri-Taylor". Growing up on Taylor Street you definitely gain an appreciation for the Italian culture and the people. I remember attending St. Callistus until the 1st grade and then still being involved with the St. Callistus activities while I attended Washington Irving. I used to enjoy the neighborhood eateries like Damenzo's, Joe's, Grandaddy's, Ferrara's, Polk and Western and even birthday parties at Lulu's. I even remember hanging out in Little Italy over time, day camp at Sheridan, Mario's Italian Lemonade, The Patio, Hawkeye's and much much more. Whether you are Italian or not, I would highly recommend buying this book as a gift for yourself, to family, or friends that have roots in Little Italy, or the Taylor Street area in Chicago because it gives you historical insight to the area we cherish and will always call home.

Great Gift

This was a great gift for my Italian mother. She cried when she opened it up for Christmas. She actually found pictures of some of her relatives in it. Very historical and a great gift for any Italian families from Chicago.
