Bobo the chimp finds that his jungle friends are happy to help him feel tall - but that small is still the perfect size for being safe in Mommy's arms. When you're a tiny chimp like Bobo, it seems that everyone else is bigger than you. Luckily, all his pals, from the lion cub to the elephant to the towering giraffe, let Bobo climb on their shoulders or even their heads to give him a taste of being tall. But what if the eager little guy clambers too high? With endearingly expressive illustrations, Jez Alborough turns a moment of high anxiety into a Mommy-and-Bobo reunion in another irresistible tale of very few words-and very big heart.
We read Tall and Hug before bed every night and my two year old twins love Bobo. Each child likes to pretend to FALL! into Mommy's arms before going to sleep. I believe they feel safe knowing Mommy is there for them.
Fun to read, easy to understand the emotion and the relationship

Great, great book that benefits the child in many ways. On emotion and trust, it shows that parents will always be there for the child -- Bobo's mom ran to catch him when he was about to fall. My 1.8 years old child loves it when I simulate that I can football-catch a falling teddy bear, and especially prevent her from falling down in real life. The book also shows friendship between Bobo and the other animals.

Bobo's Back!

Bobo fans rejoice! The lovable chimp from Hug is back in Jez Alborough's latest book Tall. This time around, Bobo wants to be as tall as his friends in the jungle, each of whom try to help the little guy out by putting him on their shoulders. Mommy shows up just in time to rescue him when he takes a tumble off of the giraffe, teaching Bobo that sometimes it's OK to be small. Tall follows the same approach as Hug, with a minimal use of words (small, tall, fall, Bobo, and Mommy) and a journey through the jungle where he encounters some familiar friends. Alborough's artwork is wonderful, and Bobo's facial expressions are just as endearing as they were in Hug. Tall is a delightful book for young children; and anyone who's a child at heart will find this book hard to resist. Like Hug, Tall is the kind of book worth passing to the next generation.
