Grace Chancellor is sent to the middle East a punishment for being a snitch. CIA does not tolerate such truthfulness. Griff Cabot, head of the Phoenix Agency, is pushing just the right buttons on Landon James, and doing a little matchmaking, to get this man into rescue mode. James has repeatedly refused to work for Phoenix. This rescue would be a favor to the man James admired and besides maybe he wanted Grace back. Dalton Rawls, one of Griff's agents, passed the information onto James about Grace. Grace walked out on Landon James six years ago because she wanted it all. He was not about to give up his job for family. Mike Mitchell was taken prisoner with Grace and the dying pilot was teaching Grace a lesson that would change her life. James appeared out of nowhere to help Grace and Col. Stern escape from their abductors. Except that Stephen Reynolds captured them and tried to make Grace believe that James killed Mitchell in order to save her. There was something fishy going on with Reynolds attempt at an exchange. More bullets and threats. Then they ran into Abdul Rahim who wanted James - the only man to excape from this drug lord. But James was looking for revenge also. This drug lord, who tortured him and scarred his eye. Plenty of action - lots twists and turns - great characters - about seven years of regrests for James and Grace. Both have to learn to give. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED - m --- I surely hope this isn't the end of our boys at Phoenix. I have thoroughly enjoyed these stores.
