Tempted to start painting but not sure where to start? Learn how to paint beautiful watercolour flowers using just 3 colours, 3 brushes, a plastic palette and a watercolour pad. This book will build your skills through easy exercises, starting from the simplest of tulips and working up to a stunning rose. Clear advice and step-by-step photography will show you exactly what to do at each stage. No drawing necessary you can simply trace and transfer the basic drawings from the finished paintings, which are shown at full size.
This is one of the "Take 3 Colours" books, that has you take the primary colors: red, yellow, and blue, and mix them to get a variety of colors to paint with. I love flowers, so this is a fun one to try. There are nine flower pictures to paint. It would have been nice if they had the outlines, but they have you trace the final picture and transfer it to your own watercolor paper. Julie uses Permanent Rose, Ultramarine Blue, and Cadmium Yellow Pale for her mixes, and shows how she gets the colors for her paintings. She also has a page about practicing with your paint brushes. I love the bright colors that she uses. She gives several steps with pictures to show how each step looks. I am learning a lot from mixing the colors and doing the exercises.
