Highly Recommended

Georgia Brown loves her man, Marvin, and she wants him to succeed in stand-up comedy. Although she's forced to be the main breadwinner of their family of four, she does what she can to help him live his dream. But what she doesn't realize is success often comes with a price. Marvelous Marvin finally makes it, landing a lucrative position with the 102 Hitz morning show. His humorous style is a huge hit, but most of his jokes are aimed at his sweet wife. Poking fun at everything from her weight to their lovemaking, he will stop at nothing in humiliating her. Living with Marvin's big ego isn't all Georgia has to contend with. She's also forced to accept his illegitimate daughter when the girl's mother dumps her with Georgia. And Marvin isn't being true to his wife, and he doesn't mind sharing his exploits with the world on his morning show. When Sweet Georgia Brown is offered an opportunity to retaliate in her own morning show, she jumps at it. But she can't help but be true to her own nature, no matter what the station is hoping she'll do. Readers will cheer for this wonderfully uplifting woman, who only wants those around her to be happy, but must finally choose her own happiness. She's a great role model for any woman who finds herself in a situation where she's being taken advantage of, and ultimately must say, "Enough!" Georgia finally has the courage to stand up for herself, and she does it in a positive and empowering manner. Way to go, Sweet Georgia Brown! Reviewer: Alice Berger Bergers Book Reviews

Can A Woman Re-invent Herself ?

Cheryl Robinson has been known for writing novels with a twist, portraying women who face the odds and succeed. Her books have been touted as being fresh and exciting. Her characters have been "heart feeling, genuine" and the protagonist in her latest release, Sweet George Brown is no different. Georgia Brown is the loving and hard working wife of Marvin Brown, a wanna-be comedian struggling to find his way to his big break. The mother of two young sons, Georgia is committed to standing by her man, even when he doesn't have a full-time job and they are forced to move in with his parents. When nobody else believes in Marvin, Georgia does. After becoming the first place winner in a national reality TV show; Marvin is finally on the rise and he is determined to repay Georgia for all those years that she struggled with him and worked a job that she hated just to feed the family. They move into their dream house, drive the best cars, Georgia becomes a stay-at-home wife and mother and for the first time, money is no object. Marvin has arrived. Sounds like all of their dreams have finally come true, but in the process Marvin becomes a different man. He is so unlike the Marvin that Georgia married and after eleven years of marriage, Georgia Brown becomes disillusioned and depressed. She gains weight and has a desire to re-invent her life. Now a popular on-air radio personality; Marvin uses Georgia as the butt of painful and uncaring jokes to boost his ratings. A spiritual woman, Georgia relies on her faith and her good will towards others to get by but she can't close her eyes to Marvin's philandering ways and his total unconcern for his family. As long as the money is rolling in, he feels that he is doing his job. Georgia knows better. Robinson gives her readers another woman who fights the good fight and wins. Georgia's story is empowering and she finds herself blessed to give other women like her, the encouragement to change their lives by her example. Sweet Georgia Brown is a novel that will make women stand up and cheer as Georgia persevere and "Marvelous Marvin" gets what he truly deserves in the end. I laughed and cried while reading this book and the message is clear; "What goes around, comes back " Without trading dirty deeds with her husband when he is down and out, Georgia proves that taking the high road pays off in the end. This is a novel you will love. Idrissa Uqdah for AALBC

Delightful insight into Sweet Georgia Brown's life.

. Sweet Georgia Brown by Cheryl Robison is sheer delight. It's not a book that you might grab unless you knew a bit about it. The reason is there is a gorgeous black woman with a Mona Lisa smile on the cover, and Caucasians (like me) might pass it by. That would be a mistake. Cheryl Robinson has now moved onto my favorite author's list. Georgia Brown catered to her husband for years and went through a long phase of sole bread winner while Marvin Brown strived to build a career. They are living with his mother when he does get the "big break" and becomes a popular national radio personality. Finally, Georgia thinks, a home of their own. Instead the publicity brings problems, and one of them is his 13-year-old daughter whose existence Georgia knew nothing about. It's bad enough to find out what a liar and cheater her husband is, but now she is expected to raise his daughter. Still, she hangs in there, until Marvin begins cutting her down on the radio and issues a challenge the will change their lives forever. He has been ragging on Georgia for years, but once the gauntlet is thrown, she won't back down. She will have equal time on the radio. She shines and finds empowerment in the acceptance of her life. Surprise, she is a bigger success than he is. Then Marvin pulls another stunt and his career is in her hands. She could save him, but will she? It's a slow, lazy book that takes you into a less stressful time as you read. Chery Robinson's style is easy and she builds her stories through good characters. This is a winner. Enjoy this 5 star novel. Victoria Tarrani

Radio Hits-Sweet Georgia Brown

Marvin works for a small Detroit radio station that turns into mega listeners when Marvin turns it into a laugh-a-thon about his precious wife Sweet Georgia Brown. When Marvin started out he was doing small comedy after comedy, down on his luck, no job, staying w/his parents with a wife and 2 children that he could barely feed. Sweet Georgia always supported Marvin and believed in his dreams, when noone else did, but she didn't know the cost of believing in Marvin until "The Last Laugh" turned into "The Marvelous Marvin Morning Show", at her expense. Fed-up with Marvin's peanut gallery on the radio as well as raising his 13 year-old sassy daughter Chloe, that one day appeared on their doorstep, Georgia gets her own blessing, but not at Marvin's expense, she worked her way to the top the old fashioned way, with hard work and faith. Through all of Marvin's gambling, extra-marital affairs, laughs at Georgia, and thru all of his dedicated listeners, even when Marvin faced a crucial and devastating disaster that was about to end his career, Sweet Georgia steps up again and become his soul survivor. Sweet Georgia Brown is a uplifting, inspirational novel which shows there are dreams that do come true, and that you'll be one step closer to your dreams if you keep believing in yourself, and thru it all to never give up. Reading this book you'll learn to laugh, love yourself, believe, and most of all make your dreams your reality. Listeners will get a scoop of sweetness with a sprinkle of laughter everytime they tune in. This book will entertain readers and challenge them spiritually. Sweet Georgia Brown you derserve 5 stars w/white glove treatment.
