Two children and their baby brother explore the plant and animal life that flourish in their lovely garden. This description may be from another edition of this product.
I find this book simply wonderful. I have an old copy of 1976, a Portuguese translation, and I love the fact I can share this story with my child. Where the cynical journalist of "Publishers Weekly" saw a patronizing Nicholas, I saw a caring and responsible brother sharing his simple knowledge of the world with her sister, the way he knew best. The art in this book is light and gorgeous and the message I get from it is that children have the right to be surrounded by beauty and have happy and peaceful lives where they can learn about the world at their own pace. If anything the real world should be more like this book and not the other way around.
