A great collection of Superman stories

This is a great little collection of all different Superman stories. The art is great, everyone gets their moment to shine, and it's really fun to read.

How Comics Should Be

This graphic novel is a collection of Superman comics around the year 2000. Because it is a collection it is not one continuous story but a collection of saome smaller ones that loosely fit together with no real beginning or end. The billing is that this is a "reboot" or chance for the Superman frachise to restart itself. The art is excellent and I found the stories to be very enjoyable although I was a little lost from time to time since I am not a regular reader of comics. Overall I enjoyed this much more than most graphic novels I have read.

A pretty good Superman graphic novel

I found "Superman:No Limits" to be a pretty good Superman graphic novel, but as one reviewer commented, it leaves a lot more to be desired because Superman just seems to jump from one varied mission to the next, as the graphic novel seems to jump from one story to the next, leaving a lot of loose ends untied by the end of the novel. Still, there were some good battle sequences in it, such as the one where Superman and WonderWoman are transported to Valhalla to fight off a demon invasion force. But one thing that irked me about that was, as usual, Superman didn't kill a single demon, he left that to WonderWoman while he just beat the demons up. I also enjoyed the Eradicator crisis. Over all, this was a pretty good Superman graphic novel, but it wasn't one of the best, though.

An entertaining, if somewhat scattershot, overview

Superman: No Limits is a collection of Superman's adventures from the several comic books featuring the character. The result is a wide-ranging book encompassing many artistic styles and conceptions of the Superman character. This diversity is book's greatest strength; it is, however, its greatest flaw as well. On the one hand, there's a Superman for every taste to be found here. Whether you prefer him as a cartoonishly huge figure who towers over "mortal men" or a more "realistic" Man of Steel, wild super-powered action or quiet character-driven moments (Lois Lane's reaction to the agelessly beautiful Wonder Woman is priceless), it's in No Limits. It's all but impossible for the book to entirely disappoint. On the other hand, the counterpoint to this is that the book cannot fully appeal. Whatever Superman or story type you like, a fair portion of the book will not be in accord with your tastes. Moreover, since No Limits collects issues of comic books which do not always relate to each other, plot lines diverge within the book, and many threads are left dangling. Perhaps most frustrating is the final story, which ends in a cliffhanger clearly intended to encourage the reader to purchase the next paperback collection. Superman: No Limits offers a great many entertaining stories, written by several different authors and interpreted by a variety of artists. Since it makes no attempt to tie the many plots present together, and indeed leaves several unresolved, the book is perhaps best suited to those looking for a taste of an old favorite or a casual introduction to the World's Greatest Super-Hero. Involved fans looking for a more complete Superman experience would probably be better served by picking up the latest issues at a local comic shop.
