I'm a former HVAC tech and have spent a good deal of time studying heating and cooling loads of various strutures over the years. I've spent perhaps fourteen years reading a large variety of construction books covering conventional to the unusual (SIPS, strawbale, domes, underground, foam structures, tipi's, etc.) and this book makes the most sense to me. While i wouldn't construct a house exactly as depicted in this book, I have found many ideas to "borrow" from this title. Mark White explains the science behind super insulation in simple terms, and also the reasons for his choices in building materials. A great guide for the do it your selfer, whom has a few friends to lend a hand now and then. Nothing fancy, no frills, just efficient housing at an affordable price.
