A Summer Read

Jamie, a sports fan and an athlete, goes to Baltimore "the big city" to spend summer with her romance-novelist mom, in order to get out the way of her dad and his love-interest. Though cynic towards the idea of love at first sight, Jamie, nevertheless, hopes to experience true love in her last summer before college. She joins a lacrosse camp to spend time working out while summering, and there she sets the gorgeous-looking-coach off with her attitude, makes new friends and gets a job as a basketball summer camp coach. Then unexpectedly, Jamie tangles herself in a relationship she was better off without. Will her summer in the big city be that of heaven or hell ? Picking this book up, I thought it would be a stereotypical chick-lit; light and maybe funny. I didn't set any high expectation for it, and boy was I surprised! The love story introduced in this book was vividly illustrated. My heart went out for both the heroine and the hero (won't say who, you'll have to figure that out for yourself). If it weren't for the fact that I got this book from the YA section and the fact that the characters were in their teen years, I would have thought this book was a pure romantic one. LOVED this book.

I LOVED reading this book. I loved it so much, I read it a second time once i finished it. There are a lot of cheesy teen romance novels out there and this is one is def. one of the most enjoyable the i've read (and i've been reading a lot of them lately). It's cute, romantic, and i couldn't put it down. I stayed up until 5 am reading this i loved it so much!! You should def. check this book out.

SUMMER IN THE CITY is a novel based around sports, boys, and romance in the big city of Baltimore, Maryland, where Jamie is going to attend college in the fall. I didn't know if I was going to like this book at first, but I'm happy to say I was pleasantly surprised! I'm not a big sports fan, but this book had enough romance in it to keep me interested! Jamie's parents divorced a long time ago and she lives with her dad. She and her father are very close because Jamie is really into sports and her dad is a football coach. She is the kind of girl that all the guys like hanging out with but not going out with. Her dad wants to take her and her school counselor (his girlfriend) up to their cabin for a summer of camping -- but that doesn't sound so appealing anymore. So instead Jamie goes to spend the summer with her mom, who is an ex-middle school teacher who became a romance writer. Jamie's dad finds a lacrosse camp to enroll her in to give her something to do while she is there. She ends up getting a job helping run a basketball camp for underprivileged children. She loves basketball and the kids so she has a lot of fun! You have to read the book to find out all of Jamie's romantic adventures in the city! Reviewed by: Taylor Rector

A Great Fun in the Sun Read

I loved this book! I love all the books by this publisher but this was definitely one of my favorites. This book was about Jamie, a sports-loving college-bound freshmen, and her quest for love. She meets the wrong guy, the right guy, and learns about love at first site. It's a great book to read while lounging around by the pool. :]
