The text is spare and perfectly matched to the unusual and subtle illustrations. This is one of many wonderful books by the author Aliana Brodmann. She has written since her childhood, and has been published all over the world. Her books are treasures, and all of them come out of her life or her experience. Hans Poppel is a most mischevious and beguiling illustrator, with individual illustrations that require study to appreciate all the amazing details and little asides, not to mention the big picture staring at you. I love this book which has also been published in Spanish and other languages
