A Gory Cannibalistic Delight!

Succulent Prey is the story of Joseph Miles, who was victimized by a child murderer at a young age. He was the only survivor, but feels that he was given a disease by his tormentor that has caused him to have cannibalistic urges that are over time getting increasingly worse. Miles goes on a journey throughout this book in search of a cure for this disease in order to absolve himself of being a killer. Along the way he falls in love with a girl, and the tension increases as he searches for the cure in hopes that he will be able to cure himself before he is incapable of resisting the urge to kill her. This is a powerful and intense book! White has done an amazing job with depicting scenes graphically to where the reader can visualize exactly what is going on. To some, this might be too much, as it is heavy on the gore scale, but for the heavy-hitter horror fans, this is a must read! The character of Joseph Miles is one of the strongest characters I've encountered in my reading in a long time. I found myself cheering for him throughout the book in hopes that he would find the cure for the disease. Granted, there were also times where I found myself hating Miles and wanting to chuck the book across the room. When an author can make me feel for the character that strongly, that's when I know I'm reading a great book and I know I will read more by the author. Highly Recommended. Grisly Gruesome Gory Grimoire and Guts Galore!

Your bile will rise when reading this. No really I mean you might actually vomit. This is not a book for any newbie to the Horror genre. If you've read books by Richard Laymon, Ed Lee, Jack Ketchum, John Shirley, and Clive Barker and found yourself even remotely cringing at those authors words, well you might not be able to handle Wrath James White. This is sick stuff. Cannibalism, perversion, mutilation, and just good old fashioned crazy. The premise of serial/signature killing being a communicable disease is inspired and the "execution" is very, very well done. This is messed up writing at its most wicked. Absolutely above and beyond what is considered by most to be acceptable in Horror fiction. Disgusting, yet fascinating. An amazing accomplishment. Kudos to Leisure for having a pair big enough to publish this and kudos to White for getting my gorge. Jeez is this book sick! Most memorable Horror novel I've read so far this year. Oh, and by the way Wrath James White is one of the coolest names ever.

If you like extreme horror, you'll eat this up.

Wrath James White writes some of the most extreme horror I have ever read. If you have a weak stomach, this is not the book for you. But, if you like to be taken to the extremes of human depravety, you need to read Succulent Prey. As a child, Joseph Miles was attacked by a serial killer. As a young adult, he now has urges he can't control. White gets into the mind of Miles, and it is a sad, sick and twisted place. And bloody. Oh, man, is it bloody. White can certainly describe the gore. And the guts. And the sex. This book is sure to offend people (I don't know why those people would read it in the first place), but if you want a look deep into the darkest pits of evil, then read Succulent Prey.

Laymon, Lee, etc fans, check this out

I had heard about this book on a message board on a "most disturbing, bloody books, etc" thread, so I thought Id give it a try. This is basically a cross between a Richard Laymon and Edward Lee book(particularly from his website), only with a more serious tone to it. Almost all the gory parts deal with cannibalism/mutilation, so if you're squeamish AVOID THIS BOOK. However, its just a book, and VERY entertaining. Im definetely getting everything Wrath James White releases.

This book makes Richard Laymon's writing seem calm

This book is gory! It is disturbing.... If you like Richard Laymon's writing, you will like this book.
