Strong's Concise Concordance and Vine's Concise Dictionary of the Bible: Two Bible Reference Classics in One Handy Volume

This book has no value for the common bible student. There in no way of knowing which greek or hebrew word is used in each particualar verse. Stong's numbers are desperately needed.

This is exactly what I wanted to help with my own individual bible study as well as with my small group. I agree with the others who have offered their comments that there are more complete volumes out there for the extremely serious student of the bible, but this is perfect for the average church-goer studying at home.

This is a CONCISE version of Strong's concordance and Vine's dictionary. The concordance portion is 749 pages long and the dictionary portion is 427 pages. Naturally, in terms of comprehensiveness, it can not compete with the exhaustive Strong's (1824 pages) or the complete Vine's (759 pages). It is also $24.80 cheaper than the combined exhaustive works (as of January, 2009). Yes, some things were left out. Yes, there are more complete works out there. But for the person who is looking to enrich their every-day Bible time, this is a handy guide that won't throw out your back when you reach for it. If you are looking for an exhausive guide - keep looking. However, if you purchase this book and are then disappointed that a 'concise' volume proves to be concise and not exhaustive, please don't take it out on the book in the form of a poor rating. And please don't label all users of this book 'young students, beginners, not serious or uninterested in original Biblical language'. I applaud anyone who is dedicated to improving their Bible study time and think this is a great economical volume to have within reach.

I'm disappointed that this product has only a 3.5 star rating. It's a concise reference, not an exhaustive end-all answer book to the Bible. Perhaps too many reviewers had unrealistic expectations. My only complaint is that the Greek and Hebrew letters aren't printed in the dictionary section, for further study. All in all, it is a good source to have alongside during personal study (but this thing is THICK, so I wouldn't reccomend lugging it around to a Bible study or sermon).

Good combination of excellent recourses. Everyone should have one!
