If you are interested in historical fiction stories about the Polish Resistance, this is a MUST READ book. I could not put this book down. It is so important for people to read this book and learn from it so we do not repeat this holocaust. It was truly amazing to me how the people continued to live and fight against the Nazi with such horrendous odds against them. It is based on true historical facts. I highly recommend this book.
Don't be put off by the confronting cover - this is a wonderful story. I chose the book to learn more about my Polish heritage and because I enjoy reading war stories. I found it was an exciting and beautifully written story. At the same time I learned many new things about life in Warsaw at that time in history, and reading it felt like I might have been walking through the streets myself.
Very Well Done WWII Tale

This is a fictional account of the intrepid Polish Resistance against the Nazi occupation of Warsaw. It's a simple account of one heroic resistance fighter, his incredibly touching love affair, and some gripping, almost unbearably tense encounters with various arms of the Nazi establishment. The book sheds a much-needed light on the Nazi depredations against the Poles, especially the mass executions at various intersections throughout the embattled city. There is glory in this story but there is also the sadness which comes with a brutal occupation by sub-human forces. This story has it all. Occupation up close and personal and the heroes who fought back with all they had. Wiggins has created a masterpiece.

This was a great look at an often-times overlooked element of WW2. It was honest, and gave an acurate look at resistence in Warsaw. A great read. Would be excellent for a student looking to get a glimpse of the everyday person's existance during that awful time...

Streets Of Warsaw: A Novel Of The Polish Resistance In World War II is a historical novel and a totally engaging dramatization of a nearly forgotten espisode in the World War II struggle of the Polish underground against the German occupation. Chronicling the efforts of a valiant few to sabotage the Nazi war machine, the ruthless terrorizing and murder of an SS Brigadier General assigned to root out and destroy the uprising, and one man's desperate mission that could cost him everything he loves, Streets Of Warsaw is a gripping saga that tells of paying the ultimate price. Highly recommended.
