Storm of Shadows (Chosen Ones, Book 2)

Storm of Shadows is a great escape story. I have known people such a Rosamund--totally brilliant and absolutely clueless. It's fun to watch her enter the real world for the first time in her life. Aaron is the perfect opposite for her. The research Christina Dodd does in preparation for the story adds to the story line. She demonstrates a fabulous imagination in the development of the characters and the plot. I always appreciate Christina Dodd's creativity. It must be difficult to get into the head of a character that is totally different from your own personality (when you read the book you'll understand what I mean). I thoroughly enjoyed the book and look forward to the next installment. Read the Storm of Visions first so you know the background.

I guess this must be one of those love it or hate it books and I loved it! I found myself falling in love right along with Rosamund and Aaron and was excited to see the "chosen" story continue from the first book in the series. I like the way Dodd blends romance and paranormal elements of the story. It's sort of like a comic book theme but it never feels like a comic book but more like HEROES or something like that.

Storm of Shadows focuses on the second of the Chosen Ones, Aaron Eagle and a very stuffy librarian, Rosamund Hill. The story is set up right away as an action adventure, and after some character setup (and a funny look at the other Chosen Ones staying in the same house for too long), the story goes on the road through Morocco and Paris. One of my favorite scenes was Rosamund's transformation at a Paris salon...hilarious and fun! I think this was a good outing from Christina Dodd, and I hope that each of the Chosen Ones get to have their own story because by my count that gives me 5 more books to read. =)

Aaron Eagle has used his paranormal skill of becoming a mist as a thief. However, now he is one of the Chosen so he feels a strong sense of purpose to use his gift to help fulfill the prophecy and as a form of redemption. While his Chosen teammates remains stunned with the destruction of their base (see STORM OF VISION), he seeks his soulmate to help him on the quest. Antiquities librarian Rosamund Hill is a pragmatist like her dad; she scoffs at her late mom's belief in the legend of the Chosen Ones. Her belief system is devastated with a knock on her door. Aaron has come for his Rosamund, who struggles with believing he wants her and trying to accept that her mom was right. However Aaron has competition for Rosamund, who cannot believe two hunks want her. STORM OF SHADOW is a fabulous Chosen Ones urban romantic fantasy that follows up from the first entry, STORM OF VISION; thus that book should be read first to fill in the background. The relationship between the librarian and the former thief is terrific, but it is the battle and fears of failure; their mentors understand sending an inexperienced team into combat in which danger is everywhere and betrayal is the norm can get them killed; while the key seventh Chosen has not been found and the records destroyed that make this work a stupendous thriller. This is the second installment of Christina Dodd's new series of "The Chosen". In the first book we learn about the terrible tragedy that happens to The Gypsy Travel Agency. You are introduced to the newly appointed "Chosen" and you are introduced to Jacqueline Vargha who is the "Chosen's" Seer. In the second book you are given a chance to learn about Aaron Eagle. Aaron Eagle is also a newly appointed "Chosen". Aaron mus help the Chosen find a lost prophecy. He has no idea what it is and where to look. So he enlists the help of a brilliant scholar named Rosamund Hill. Rosamund is a true "bookworm" and has suffered true loss in her life. She has no idea the battle between the Others and the Chosen is real. She is pulled into the battle and Aaron must fight to keep her safe. In the beginning Rosamund is unsure of her self around Aaron and doesn't fully trust him. Aaron must prove himself to her but more importantly, he must fulfill the destiny he runs from. If he does not - then all is lost and the Other's will find victory. Aaron and Rosamund's story was WONDERFUL! It was an adventure at every turn! I couldn't put it down and I cannot WAIT to see what Christina has in store for us next!
