Stories from the Life of Joseph Smith

I read this and then my husband read it out loud to the kids. I thought it very well done and provides an excellent understanding of Joseph and what his life was like. It treated the painful and harsh things with dignity and didn't dwell on them. My kids understood what was happening but they weren't freaked out or overly sad. My three oldest boys responded very well to this and looked forward to listening to it every night. They told me interesting stories from the night before and were able to intelligently discuss events and ideas. I'd highly recommend this book as a wonderful foundation for a love of the Prophet Joseph. Older middle school kids could read this on their own with no problems. The chapters are fairly short so reading them out loud won't kill your throat. I also think that most adults would enjoy this book. The writing isn't 'dumbed down' and I learned a lot of things I didn't already know. I have the hardcover book which is beautiful. *taken from my review at goodreads
