book seems ok but the jacket was missing ..

This auudio casette rules! Sound effects make you feel like you are on the Enterprise. The Narrator is really vibrant, and has some nice imitations! GREAT AUDIO!

I must say this book was great and can't give it enough praise. There was hardly any dull moments, it was a solid and fascinating plot and story line filled with vivid details that were almost as visible, if you will, as if you were viewing the movie again. Other things that I found to be positive was that John Logan, a big-time Trek Fan and also one of the Romulans, chose to portray this passionate, vibrant and honorable people (Most of the time!) in a positive manner. Commander Donatra proved to be what Romulan fans like me have been hoping for a long time, a Romulan with honor and integrity.- A great Read,- F

Oh, I really enjoyed reading this book. I went to see the movie and was so caught up in the story that I ordered the book ... right away.First of all, the book is true to the screenplay, down to dialogue, although there were some additions and adjustments in the novelization. It was also a plus to have the introduction and commentary on the making of the movie at the end.I find it hard to accept that this might really be the end of "The Next Generation," and yet I don't see how they could come together again after this movie. I mean, you could bring all the actors together and have a good script, but as a fan, having now watched these characters evolve, and move on, it would be like watching your kids move back home.The novel did fill in some spots I felt a bit confused about, explaining certain bits of dialogue, especially lines by Worf.I felt the book was very well written. Congratulations.

In this story the Enterprise finds a prototype of the android Data near the Romulan neutral zone, and soon after the Enterprise is called upon to visit the planet Romulus at the request of Shinzon, the new Praeter of the Romulan Empire. Shinzon has a mysterious origin, soon to be revealed, and he professes peace between Romulus and the Federation, but can he be trusted? This novel is full of intrigue and action, and becomes philosophical at times, in a well concieved plot, with good character development, a joy to read even after first seeing the movie. Much of this novel centers around Data and what it means to be human, including friendships perhaps worth dying for, very well executed. I have seen the movie also, I consider it to be one of the two top films for 2002, no exceptions, and about as good as THE WRATH OF KHAN. The screenplay was written by John Logan, Rick Berman, and Brent Spiner, with the novelization by J.M. Dillard, all Star Trek fans in their own right and also great talent. John Logan gives a moving introduction here in this book. This is great page-turning science fiction.

The Romulan Star Empire is the last major power in the Alpha Quadrant... a longtime sworen enemy of the Federation has now expressed their desire to initiate negotiations for unity in the Alpha Quaddrant.As Captain Jean-Luc Picard enters in negotiations, the Enterprise and her crew are faced with a threat that could jeopardise everything... even the destruction of Earth itself.If you saw the movie, you must read the book as it fills in a lot of the gaps and leaps in logic that they left on the cutting room floor. There is action, intrigue, mystery and adventure that is non-stop as the book gives you emotions as the characters play out the story. I must say the movie does do justice to the novel and the movie is true to the book.There is a section within the pages of the book that has pictures from the movie and a section that is called "A First Look" that has stills from the making of the movie. This is one of the better TREK books with a believeable storyline.
