On the heels of the bestselling "Thoroughbred" series comes the reissue of this classic stand-alone story by "Thoroughbred's" creator about a young girl who regains confidence through her love of riding.
I'd have to say this is my favorite "Ashleigh's Thouroughbred Collection" book. It was really written nicely and was pretty realistic. I think most of us know one or two "Taras" and we can relate to that problem, I also liked how instead of having some perfect child rider who swept the showring clean every time and rode an immeadiatly wonderful horse they had a good, down-to-earth rider who (like most of us) makes mistakes and has a period of fear of riding but over comes it and does well. The characters are very realistic and likeable and Star is realistic and loveable. Not only does it concentrate more on horses than some of the TB books do but it also brings up issues like friendship, fear, embarrasment, shyness and popualrity. Very good.
Pretty Darn good

I thought this book was really good. I've read it a few times and I never got bored. I like the idea of someone who's not gorgeous or popular rising to become a champion. I must say though that I'm getting a wee bit tired of all these books about kids who just happen to have parents that own horse farms. My parents know diddly about horses. Anyhoo, it was still good and I recommend it to anyone who likes to read about riding.

I love this book! It's one of my favorite horse books. The characters are very likeable and the situations are very realistic. Tara even seems like the "ideal snot" for the story. The only thing I found confusing was that Susan was teaching Tara in her intermediate jumping class, then Tara was competing agains't Susan at Susan's level at the Events. But it's still very good. I found myself really getting into the story! I don't think you would even have to be a horse lover to enjoy this book. It has a great moral, and it's very enjoyable. I really think that Joanna Campbell should write a sequel too!

I loved this so much! Susan is a really down to earth character, and Star is really great. Tara is a really 'perfect' snob for the story, too. I can't say how much I loved this heart-warming story!
