Standard Catalogue of British Coins Vol. 1: Coins of England and the United Kingdom

The one I am looking at now is "Standard Catalog of British Coins" parts 1 and 2. Ninth printing 1970. The first printing is 1962. I am placing this under B.A. Seaby; 24th Ed edition (September 28, 1988) so there may be some minor differences. "Britain's coinage extends over a period of more than 2000 years. Some of these coins are valuable historical records of the country's early history: they also mirrored the miniature and artistic achievements of the times." In Part 1 of the Catalog may have endeavored to cover each rain up to 1816 according to the numismatic range. In part 2 they have covered the coinage issued since 1816 and have listed all the dates with their individual prices. There is a scale showing conditions of the coins and how they are graded. In addition, there is a list of mintmarks on English coins both the pictures and descriptions. This catalog is still useful for identifying coins and placing them in the correct position in time and importance. However, you might get a laugh out of the pricing structure, which of course is completely outdated. I keep this catalog as a backup for other catalogs in case something is missing or to verify the authenticity of the other catalog and the coin. Even if you have a newer version of this catalog, it cannot hurt to search for older ones and purchase them for the same reasons.
