Almost a Great Concept

Art and Cats - two dazzling topics to delight a child. Great sounding concept and the basis for a fine children's book.
However "Spot a Cat" doesn't really bring it off.
The art works are wonderful, varied and a kaleidoscope for young readers, but the text is for very young readers and the art is not likely to be appreciated.
We saw this with our 4 & 6 year olds, who quickly read the text and flew past the art after spotting the cats. Even with a bit of explanation from us, their attention was hardly focused as the spotting was mostly facile.
