The anime is better

Don't get me wrong, I love Special A and everyone in it, but the manga is confusing to read, and hard to follow. I ended up watching the anime, and loved it a billion times better. If, like me, you find the manga version too confusing, please try the anime. It's very very very hilarious, I started rolling on the ground from laughing. But very moving, too. SA rocks

Boys Rule, Girls Drool

Kei and Hikari go to a private school and are members of an elite club of the top-seven rated students. Kei is naturally perfect, but Hikari has devoted her life to defeating him. This series is cute and entertaining. The reader will probably cheer for Hikari to beat Kei, but know that its not going to happen. This series does reinforce the idea that boys are better than girls, both physically and mentally. This theme is, however, just a backdrop for the true theme. Of course, romance is important, but I think one of the subjects the first book tried to touch on was having a purpose. Even though Hikari cannot defeat Kei, it is the thought that commands her every action. Basically, Kei gives Hikari a reason to strive for the best. Hikari doesn't want to win for her own benefit. She just wants to beat him. Kei benefits from this arrangement because it appeals to his calm, perfect nature. He likes being chased after. So, they both give each other a purpose. There's more to this series than just a girl trying to beat a guy. There's love, purpose, and acceptance. Read it. You'll be glad that you did.

One of the best Shojo

Maniac shojo fan here who just wants to say this is one of the best of the best manga's so far that I have read. It fits up there with Fruits Basket, Fushigi Yugi, Kare Kano, Ouran High School, and Full Moon. Basic love story like Kare Kano where girl is always #2 and boy is always #1 so ultimately she wants to beat him no matter what. Of course he is head over heels in love with her and she seems to be totally clueless which makes for some hiliarious moments to be sure. I highly recommend this series!! (^.^)

Don't leave home w/o it

This manga is full of laughs. It's about these two people who always compete with each other and no matter what the girl always lands in 2nd place. The guy slowly falls in love with his rival. This is a romance/ comedy.
