This book covers the development of the Soviet armored corps, its tanks, missiles, and tactics and theories since the end of World War Two. This description may be from another edition of this product.
This book dates back to 80's but it is still very interesting book since it is wrote in a way which makes the reader want to read all of the book right away. Book's subject is Soviet tank development since 1945 to 80's , it includes many pictures (b & w)and text is well-written and researched. Perret knows his armor and writes first about intersting development history of soviet tanks after the ww2. That includes the soviet armour concept and approaches to tank warfare. Then there is own chapters for each type of armored vehicles (mbt,apc,spa..) Text contains no big mistakes and reader has feeling that text is reliable. Pictures are average, altough it includes some more rare t-55 tank gun loading pics which are quite an interesting. Negative in this book is that it includes some information which must have been outdated even the year when it's published(1987). Book still has pics of "t-74";that designation wasn't used after beginning of 80's. And also t-80 seems to be quite unknow to Perret, even if there was some amount of information in time of publishing. Well these are very little things and don't bother much in the context. I definitely recommend this book for anybody interested about soviet armor development after ww2 and cold war soviet tanks. Readers looking up to date information and shiny color pictures are maybe not liking this book.
