Emotionally charging

I think Soulful Sernade was the best romance novel I've ever read. It's worth a movie contract. I highly recommend it for a first time afro american romance reader to read. It is overwhelming with emotions and I find that reading it out loud enhances the excitement of all of the emotions that this book is filled with. The male character Brandon Blair is every womans dream and Hilliary Houston is every mans queen. I can't say enough about this book. It's beautifully written and so much love and caring between the characters. The minor characters Aaron Samms and Cassie are great also.

Loved it

This is the love story of Hillary and Brandon. Their romance is tested when Hillary's dream to become a famous singer comes to pass. Brandon's jealousy keep getting in the way. But their love for one another gives them the strength to work through all their problems.

Real Love Conquers All

I found the story between the two couples Hillary and Brandon, Cassie and Aaron too good to be true at first. However, the story gets interesting when there is actually "drama" in Hillary and Brandon's relationship. Brandon is a very jealous person and he needed to work on it but without hurting Hillary. He failed to do so and it resulted in him losing Hillary for a period of time. I'm glad the two of them worked things out but i really felt so sorry for Hillary but hey, she got a great gift in the end and that was Brandon's undying love for her.Good work Mrs. Smith...keep it up.

Soulful!

Hillary and her best friend Cassie liked to do everything together. They hadn't imagined falling in love at the same time and ironically with two men that were best friends. Soulful Serenade focused on Hillary and Brandon. Hillary was a beautiful girl with many talents. She worked in the advertising department at a major airline. She was really successful, but always dreamed of becoming a singer. Brandon was too good to be true in Hillary's eyes. He was a successful architect with his own business. He was every girls dream. The only problem I had with him was his jealousy. He was at some points ridculous. I was proud of the way Hillary handled his jealousy. Hillary's singing career took off and that when the really problems with she a Brandon's relationship began. He didn't want to share her with anyone. I am glad at the end they got it together. This is my first novel from Linda Hudson-Smith that I have actually read. I do have Ice Under Fire, but haven't read it yet. I really liked this story it was full of love, family and unity. It was a very realistic story.

A Love That Weathered The Storm!

Linda Hudson-Smith, you seem to have a special way in telling a story, you did so well with "Ice Under Fire" and now you have done just as well with Soulful Serenade. It is very often when reading a romance novel, people have such high expectations or predictions about how the story will turn out. They tend to think its all fluffy, sweet, and all end up the same way. Well, that is not exactly true, each book has its own unique message for all of us which could have a significant impact on our own lives. We have here, two sets of best friends, Cassie and Hilliary meet Aaron and Brandon one night in a club by sharing a table. It's at that moment that the building of these two sets of relationships begin. Now, I'm not going to give the story away but I want to encourage people to take a moment to read this book. Let me tell you why: If you are currently in a relationship that involves one of the parties who has issues of lack of trust and jealously and it's affecting your relationship, then this is a perfect book to read. The author has developed a storyline here that can provide you with ways to deal with jealousy and lack of trust. It is fears like these that can cause the down fall to any relationship. It's like traveling through a series of valleys but it shows you just how love conquers it all and making the necessary sacrifices. Brandon and Hillary (the main characters) had some serious valleys to travel but you got to read the book to see how well the author shows what steps were taken to resolve these issues.Sometimes in life we are put through some heavy tests that forces us to face our fears dead on but to see the love that moves within this story as the hero fights for the love of his life...Well folks, it's one of those books that you say...That was real good. A real love story that definitely weathered the storm! Linda, I truly not only enjoyed the entire book, (and by the way one of my most favorite parts that touched me was page 348 with 1 Corinthians 13 and the bouquet) but I also liked the way you developed each role all of your characters played, it brought so much more to this story. I look forward to your next book and encourage others to also read your first book, "Ice Under Fire."
