Something For Everybody

Lovers of history, lovers of the Old Testament, lovers of Israel, fearers of God and those curious to know how God speaks to us today need to read this book. As I read the book I highlighted a number of passages that caught my attention. 1) Lewis is not afraid to step on toes to challenge Christians today. Have we become more lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God he asks? What is left of Egpyt in our lives that we need to get rid of? He recalls Jesus' admonition to his disciples for not being able to "keep watch with me for one hour." This forced me to think about my inability to spend one hour a day with God alone. How hard is that? A good author always gets the reader to think beyond the text. He has suceeded! 2) I love history and Lewis did not let me down. Most fascinating was the chapter titled The history of the church and the Jewish people: A bitter legacy. I never knew the extent to which Christians participated in the persecution of Jews over the centuries. I knew Martin Luther said some nasty things about the chosen people but I didn't know it got so bad he was quoted in Mein Kempf. Or that he dropped dead a week after giving his "most hateful sermon against the Jews." 3) "I will bless those who bless you, and whoever curses you I will curse." Genesis 12:3. Does this verse apply to us today? Lewis answers emphatically yes. He takes the reader through a cautionary tale of world powers who didn't heed this verse. Egypy and Bablyon, the Romans, Spain, Luther, Russia and America today. Most bone chilling is a description of the natural disasters in America that correspond to different decisions we made with respect to Isreal. All in the last 20 years. Read for yourself starting on page 148. What you find will blow your mind. If you are part of the new administration, buy this book and make Barack Obama read this chapter. Twice.

Timely and Thought-Provoking

Are world events leaving you confused and scratching your head? "Sons of Issachar for the 21st Century" is a rare and comprehensive look at Islam, Israel and the culture clash going on in America today. As we move into a new chapter in American history with an historical Presidential election, Bill Lewis' book is increasingly timely. He gives us a fascinating look at America's past and religious roots and combines it with well-thought out insights about our present and future. This book is well-researched and documented thoroughly; you will find it educational, but not dry. It's easy to follow and understand if you're new to these topics. Chock-full of information, this book will challenge you to reach your own conclusions about world issues and will give you the means to do so. It won't be one of the books you read a few pages of then relegate to the bottom shelf of your already overstuffed bookcase. If you're already an avid news or political junkie, you will still find this book full of new information. You'll want to read it right through to the end - then if reading it leaves you wanting more, you will find an excellent bibliography to point you in the direction for more reading. For me, what was vitally important is that this book is not a series of lunatic ravings as so many others are on these topics. Mr. Lewis passion shows -as do his extensive background, knowledge and experience. Still, he is articulate and authentic. Mr. Lewis is a speaker as well. I've had the privilege of hearing him several times, and if you ever get the opportunity to hear him I would urge you to do so as well. It will be time well spent.

Review for Sons of Issachar for the 21st Century

This book is so relevant to what is going on with the conflict in Israel. It is a call to step up, press into prayer, and to be the church in the United States!

America, read this book!

After hearing Mr. Lewis on The Ben Ferguson Radio Show, I had to at least check out his book. Sons of Issachar for the 21st Century validates his ability to clearly and poignantly articulate the issues that are threatening America and shaking her foundations today. Anyone who daily tunes in to the news can neither deny nor underestimate the seriousness of this hour in America's history. If you really want to know the truth about America'a past, the desperate reality of her present, and the only hope for her future, read this book! Mr. Lewis somehow infuses his deep passion for America in each chapter without falling prey to the "political correctness" that plagues so much of the media today. In my opinion, Mr.Lewis "understands our times," and his message has inspired me to better understand them as well.

Really opened my eyes

This very informative book provides, as Paul Harvey liked to say, "the REST of the story!" As an avid reader of newspapers and news magazines for two decades, I thought I knew all I needed to know about the events happening in our world. But this book educated me on the REAL roots of today's problems and conflicts. Bill Lewis does a masterful job of weaving together background information on relevant and controversial issues like Israel, Islam, the "culture war" in America, and the truth about our nation's religious heritage. This book helped me understand not only how we got to where we are today, but what lies ahead, for America and the generation before us...and how high the stakes are. Momentous times! His numerous sources are well-documented, so unlike some other books on these topics, it's not just his opinion. However, the book is not just dry information...the author has tremendous compassion and his heart is evident throughout. For those who want to dig deeper, there is a helpful bibliography with more books on various subjects. I've had the privilege of hearing Bill Lewis speak, in person as well as on the radio, and he was articulate, passionate, and inspirational. This book will open your eyes and change the way you look at the world.
