The Stolen Generation Is Not Only American Indians
Published by Thriftbooks.com User , 15 years ago
In Australia, it was common practice to take half-blood Aboriginals from their parents and send them to a church-run boarding school. However, unlike in North America, full bloods were not taken because they were not considered able to learn the White Man's ways. So, they teach the White Man's ways to the half-bloods, doing the best to stamp out the Native, but then offer no opportunity to these people to belong in either society. This is not a book on Aboriginal spirituality, but it is a book with spirit and follows the trek one man made to find his family and the soul that was taken from him. While the book is out of print as of this writing, it is worth the read for anyone interested in Aboriginal culture and struggle.
