Song of Brooklyn: An Oral History of America's Favorite Borough

Contrary to the one review I read of this book, I loved it. I spend a good part of my childhood in 1950s Brooklyn, and this book made me remember why, though it has been over 50 years since I left, I still think of myself as a "Brooklyn Girl." I loved that the people interviewed were both famous and unknown, ordinary people like me. It took me back to many different aspects of my childhood and the origins of my Brooklyn pride. The last book that made me feel this way was Doris Kearns Goodwin's Wait Until Next Year. I highly recommend that, too.
