This text is written primarily for those students of sociology, both advanced under-graduate and graduate students, who actually intend to engage in social research. This description may be from another edition of this product.
While in grad school at the U of MD in 1971, I used this textbook extensively. It is, indeed, an excellent text! And yes, you do need to have a math background beyond j.h.s., but it is not a daunting , nor an impossible task to grasp the material.
Social Statistician's Source Book

This is a heavy-going textbook used for graduate level social scientists. Certainly not for casual reading, (except for a possible cure for chronic insomia). But the definitive text and reference for descriptive statistics of populations. Excellent for the serious student, an absolute must for the professional in probability practice.
