Very poor condition

The book was supposed to be in “good” condition. I expected a little wear and tear on the corners and edges of the pages, but I didn’t think it would include crusted on globs of red, unidentifiable liquids/pastes? Are these books really not even slightly wiped off before they are sent out to their new owners? I wish I could include a picture, because it’s absolutely disgusting. I was going to be giving this to my 2 year old…now I’ll probably be throwing it in the trash, since I’m not sure what this mystery stain is or if cleaning it with a disinfectant wipe will be enough. Extremely disappointed because my daughter is obsessed with Snow White.

Disappointed

I bought one that said “like new” what I received was more of an “acceptable” the book was dinged up and there was crayon scribbles on almost every page. I can’t now do what I wanted to do. I’ve bought a lot of other books from here and this is my first time being disappointed

I love the book it’s in great condition

It was supposed to come with a read along Cd and it did not so I am very dissapointed

A coffee-table classic of a classic

This 228 page book was originally a 1978 limited edition from the Circle Fine Art Press followed in 1979 by this Viking edition. It is a rather unusual book in the way the story and illustrations are presented. The text is divided into eight chapters and uses just over four hundred original Disney sketches, production drawings and several animation cels to illustrate the way the story unfolds. I thought it odd and mildly unfortunate that all this wonderful visual material is not captioned throughout the pages, however at the back of the book eighteen pages discuss the drawings and the making of Disney's classic. Although the story is for children the book is really for adults who want to know about how the movie was produced and have a chance to look at the remarkable sketches, model sheets for the characters, colored cels and production guides. There is another book that is still available and covers the same subject: WALT DISNEY'S SNOW WHITE AND THE SEVEN DWARFS: AN ART IN ITS MAKING (A Disney Miniature), 192 pages which use the extensive animation art collection of Stephen Ison. I think the book's contents are better than the Viking edition because it has a lot more colored art and everything is captioned. The only drawback is the small size. The book was part of a package that included two DVDs of the movie (so a whole load of extras) and issued in Europe in 2001. ***SEE SOME INSIDE PAGES by clicking 'customer images' under the cover.

Re-living your childhood

Golden Books are the best. Great illustrations and wonderful stories. My 4 year old daughter loves to have me read them to her at bedtime. I had the same books as a child in the 70's.

A Must-Read (Over and Over Again)

We had this book and lost it on a return airplane trip from Grandma and Grandpa's house. My almost four-year-old depended on this book as a bedtime story (and sometimes she'd get me to read it in the morning). Needless to say, she was quite sad about losing the book. We've borrowed it from the library, but that only satisfies until you have to return it. This book will be one of her birthday presents. She just loves the story and other versions will not satisfy her. Since she has memorized this version, other versions are either too short or skip over some of the best parts. The illustrations are excellent and the text is appropriate for young children (the evil queen is not too scary). Of course, Snow White is one of the best Disney stories and if you have the video, this book is an excellent complement because it follows the storyline very closely.

Best example of the true meaning of "Fairy Tale."

Snow White is the classic tale of a beautiful princess who falls in love with her Prince Charming. The fairy tale by which all are rated.

A delightfully colorful and electrifying book!

This book captures all of the magic of Walt Disney's Snow White and transfers it to the pop-ups and pull tabs that children as young as two can joyfully discover for themselves. As a mother of a two year old who loves nothing more than parking himself in front of Walt Disney's treasury of videos, this book provides a welcome change from the glassy eyed gaze of a video transfixed toddler, to an eager, hands-on explorer of one of Disney's best loved films. Kids will love how the images come alive as they work their way through the book. It is very interactive and it provides hours of entertainment. This is a must buy for any young fan of Disney and any parent who would like to vary their children's intake of pop culture. A great stocking stuffer or Hanukkah gift for a young person. If you are looking for something different, give this book a try and prepare to be very pleased with your purchase
