Snail Nearly Always Incites Laughter

I lucked upon Snail at the perfect age of 14 and it immediately became one of my favorite books, right up there with Jitterbug Perfume and Cat's Cradle. I'm rereading it now more than 10 years later and it's still terribly entertaining. If you like Tom Robbins, you really owe it to yourself to give Snail a shot. It's a surreal whirlwind of sex, magic and immortality from Nazi Germany to Haight Ashbury in the summer of love and beyond, featuring the Wandering Jew, a wild-eyed Sufi, and Athena the goddess of love. How couldn't you love a book with a steamy sex scene between Athena and a six foot tall snail? I'm delighted to see that Richard Miller has more books out -- I can't wait to read more!

Sublime work of Surrealist fiction

The journeys of ex-Nazi Major Werner Edward Fritz Von Blomberg (or Allen Edricson, he changes his name early in the book) after he receives the elixer of life from the infamous Wandering Jew, in this book named George. This amazing book should be read by anyone interested in Surrealism or simply good books, though you must also be warned of intense racy content. The twist near the end of the book is mind-blowing, and transforms "Snail" into a piece of literary history (at least in my opinion).
