Hilarious -- Finally someone who understands!

A friend gave me this book as an early Christmas present after hearing me moan and complain too many times about trying to balance a career with my new title as "mommy." She made me promise to call her when I got to the chapter about the husband's vasectomy. When I finally had enough peace and quiet time to reach that particular chapter, it was 1am on Christmas Eve and I laughed until tears were rolling down my cheeks. Given the time, I couldn't call my friend right then, but I could not wait to talk to her the next day. This book is truly hilarious. I love Laurie Notaro and David Sedaris and this book is right up there with both of those humor-writing greats. Amanda Lamb has a wicked sense of humor and you'll appreciate the hilariousness of the reality of being a working mom. Call me when you get to the chapter on the vasectomy!

Gotta Read if You Want To Laugh

I loved this book, very funny. Amanda is candid in her thoughts and I could relate to her in every aspect. Her joys and concerns are ones that I experinence on a daily basis and it's nice to know I am not alone in being a non-tradtional mother.

Perfect book for a great laugh! I loved it!

I recently purchased this book when I was in Raleigh for a business trip. I had no idea who Amanda Lamb was or what her book Smotherhood was about, but after reading a few snippets, I know that I had to have it. As a mom with 3 kids, I could totally relate to everything that Amanda wrote about. She has an amazing way of retelling stories that makes you feel as though you were there. I laughed, cried and just truly enjoyed reading this book. Actually, I was bummed when I got done. It was that good!! This is the perfect book for parents, grandparents, parents-to-be and just anyone who loves the little people that rule our worlds. :-)

Must for Mothers, Hillarious for all

After reading this book, I was tempted to buy a copy for every mother that I knew. After hearing stories from my maternal friends- and reading this book- I 'understood.' For the people out there who are not mothers (or fathers) like me, this book was a hilarious account of all those moments you hear about at work and from your friends. There are passages in this book that alternately make you laugh and tear up at the same time- uplifting and feel good. I highly recommend to anyone!

Side-splitting funny.

In the tradition of David Sedaris, Raleigh, NC claims another great humorist. Maybe it's something in the water, and anyone who takes motherhood too seriously should take a swig. Lamb is honest, insightful and often poignant but above all, hilarious. The breakneck schedule of a TV news reporter and the nerve-frazzling pace of a new mother collide in this dynamo and the results will make any new mother, any veteran mother, anyone who has ever had a mother, laugh themselves to tears.
