Colors and Shapes

This book is said to be for 4-8 year olds, but I found the right age for the book to be around three for my daughter. It teaches basic shapes and colors, but more important to me, it teaches basic thinking skills. It asks children to match small portions of pictures with the full picture, find things that are missing (ears on a teddy bear), and other observation and analysis skills. At the same time, it provides fun ways to learn basic shapes and colors. Texture additions (features, crinkly paper) teach sensitivity to touch. My three-year-old wanted me to read it to her over and over. She never seemed to tire of it. Maybe, as one reviewer complained, a dodecahedron isn't a dodecahedron, but when your child is learning circles, squares, and triangles, who cares? I'm actually purchasing my second copy of the book for my 15-month old, since she's starting to show an interest in it and our first copy is pretty well destroyed by now.
