Fantastic series!

I'm a bit displeased with some of the reviews. I have read the entire series of Adventurers Wanted. It is a VERY GOOD series! A good read for all ages. I whole heartedly recommend it. One thing that I really like about it, is that it ties all of the loose ends together from one book to the next and at the end of the last book you don't have any loose ends to wonder about (for the most part, if my memory serves me correctly). Sometimes when I finish reading a book I can feel different emotions, like if I didn't like the book I might feel angry, or if a book has a sad ending I might feel sad after reading it (I don't know if that's the same for other people), but most every time I finished reading one of the books in the Adventurers Wanted series I felt happy, or uplifted, or maybe it'd make more sense if I said "It put me in a good mood"? Anyway, another thing that I REALLY LIKE about this series is that the main character (Alex) has POWER! And he uses it for good, and for others! When an obstacle arises, he has what it takes to prevail! He doesn't give up and mope around about it, he finds a way to put an end to the evil that assails the innocent! (As best he can.) There are a few things that I would have liked M. L. Forman to have gotten a little more into in the series that he didn't, like Alex's heritage (because I liked the idea that Alex was related to the elf in this first book...I don't remember his name...), But then that's probably just me. (P. S. It was never said that they were related. But I noticed that sometimes the elf seemed a little fatherly towards Alex. In my opinion.)

What a great book

Adventurers Wanted, Book 1: Slathbog's Gold I read and listen to books all the time. This is one of those books that you have to get.

Excellent Adventure!!

This is a fabulous adventure for kids or adults! I read it within about 4 days and my 11 year old son read it in about 3 days. It is an excellent book! I am sad to have to wait another year for number two! But at least we have Fablehaven 4 to read this week now that it is released!!!

A great book

I just loved this book. Decided to try it out because of the inside cover. I love books with action, humor and emotion. I was not disappointed. M.L. Forman has done a great job on his first time out. I would recommend this book to anyone. I am looking forward to the next installment.

Beginning of an all new fantasy series for youth

When Alex Taylor enters a shop with a strange sign that seems to change every time he looks at it, he embarks on the adventure of a lifetime. Alex soon finds himself joining 7 other adventurers on a quest to slay an evil dragon and recover its hoard. Along the journey, he discovers amazing things about himself and forms incredible friendships. In classic epic fantasy form, this is a fantastic journey of a young man who comes to his own, while learning about the strange world around him. In a world of elves, dwarves, wizards, and other mystical creatures, magic is almost commonplace. And Alex is fascinated with it all. He is a likeable character and his companions even more so. The story reminded me a lot of Eragon, yet the reading is easier and quicker. Highly enjoyable, fast-paced, and full of adventure; Adventurers Wanted: Slathbog's Gold will definitely be making my list of top children's books for 2009. Fantasy fans of all ages will enjoy this high fantasy romp.
