Sizzle

Once again Ms. Garwood left me on the edge of my seat eagerly turning pages. I fully enjoyed the banter between the characters and the personality quirks were delightful. I am pleased that Ms. Garwood was able to create unique characters and an interesting story line that left me guessing as well as laughing. If you are a Garwood fan you will love this book. If not you will be after reading Sizzle.

The Buchanan family men are familiar characters from previous Garwood novels. Impossibly irresistible and lethally handsome, they are heroes and rogues who provide sizzling chemistry in these books. It is only fitting that they have equally lethal male friends and co-workers. Garwood's golden touch arouses instantaneous lust in Lyra when she sets eyes on Agent Kincaid, "the sexiest man she had ever seen." Add in his Scottish brogue, and Lyra is barely able to breathe around her new bodyguard. Sam's job is to protect Lyra and figure out why someone broke into her apartment, held her roommate captive and set a bomb under her car. After all, Lyra is a grad student, one who stumbles upon a yard sale and purchases rare, first-edition books secretly containing DVDs with incriminating information about a local crime boss. There are a slew of bumbling "puppets," including Milo, who thinks of Lyra as "his Bond girl." Milo always seems to be having the "worst day of his life" and is one step behind Lyra's new bodyguard. Sam never wants to experience the pain again that he felt when his wife of three years died. He tries to deny his attraction to Lyra, but the urge to take her in his arms and look into her sexy green eyes erodes his willpower; their powerful first kiss only makes him want her more. He begins to share more about himself and the beauty of The Highlands in Scotland where he hopes to return one day soon. Being a long time fan of Julie Garwood, I couldn't wait to dive into her latest novel: Sizzle. I was not disappointed. The plot development was steady and I loved the main characters, Sam Kincaid and Lyra Prescott. Whether writing in the contemporary or historical scene, the reader can always count on Garwood for action and smart dialogue. The repartee between Sam and Lyra made me laugh out loud at times while their inner conflicts made me sigh with understanding. The secondary characters play important roles in Sizzle as well, and Garwood's description of the bumbling antics of one of the bad guys was absolutely hysterical. Lyra's grandmother, Gigi, is sharp, tough, and the kind of grandma who makes any family gathering interesting. Sam is the kind of FBI agent that any girl would fall head over heels for, and Lyra is no exception. Her independent and strong character is a perfect match for this wounded hero. My gauge of greatness for any novel is how much I hate for the book to end. I did not want to say goodbye to Sam and Lyra, and I rooted for them from beginning to end. Sizzle kept its burn, and I heartily recommend this red hot read.

I enjoyed it. Lyra was believable and interesting. She has her own life, interests and personality,separate from Sam.Sam could have been a little more developed. I always fall for the Scotsman.Yummy! The storyline kept me interested to the end. I like the fact that the story didn't build and build and then just end.( I hate when an author does that.)
