I'm all for simple, straightforward, easy recipes, and the ones in this book definitely fit the bill. I like the author's down-home, friendly style. The only problem is, her recipes are very down-home too - they almost seem outdated, as if they were created back in the slow cooker's original heyday, the 1970s or so (actually I think people ate more healthy than this in the 70s). Excellent cookbook using "normal" ingredients that can be found in almost any kitchen. I love being able to put ingredients in the slow cooker and finding a tasty, home cooked meal at the end of the day. The slow cooker is a lifesaver and Carlean Johnson's cookbook is too.
