I read this book sometime ago while Mr. Singletary was still playing football but would soon retire. This book does not mislead. It is about football or part of Singletary's football career but it becomes clear that it is of something of greater importance than football. It is about how a man lives his life. It is about the true purpose of life for all mankind: namely, to glorify the LORD your GOD. This is the dominant subject of this book. In Singletary's other books, there are more focus on the football side of his life, but #50 would be the first to admit the priorities in his life and it is absolutely clear that GOD is #1 and should always be #1 in Singletary's life and in the life of all those who desire to live righteously, not merely politically correct or put on facades or live like the broken and misguided secular world. In sum, this is a book about FAITH, HOPE, LOVE, HONOR, JOY. (Hope the above helps the reader to understand the substance of this great book written by a Man of GOD who also happens to be one of the greatest player in the game of football)
An honest look into the "Silver Dollar" eyes of a Samurai LB

This is probably the most brutally honest and inspiring book I have read about Mike Singletary. Mike accounts not just his trials on the field, but the ones in life many of us face off it and would rather not talk about. Mike ( forgive the pun) "bears" his soul to his readers so that they may learn from his experiences and mistakes. In doing so, he creates an image of a man you can't help respect for his honesty, his faith, and his work ethic. I know now more than ever why I chose to pattern myself after Mike, first as a person and second as a football player. I really wish that this book was still available.
