heart-touching story of a forbidden love that wouldn't be denied.

Diana Turner is a young woman desperately trying to make it through the world alone. In a time when women are dependant on men for their survival, she's dressing as a man in order to work as a stagecoach driver to support herself. As a young girl, she'd fallen in love with Silver Feather, a Choctaw Indian and she has never forgotten him. Silver Feather's family had been enslaved by Diana's stepfather. As a young man, Silver Feather would meet with Diana in the hidden passageways of Dettro Manor. It was the bright spot in his bleak life. Then his life was shattered when he witnessed his parents' murder and he was forced to flee the land he knew to save himself, and leave behind the girl he had fallen in love with. Silver Feather had worked alongside his parents picking cotton at Dettro Manor, where the Choctaw Indians were enslaved. He'd heard his father speak of papers that Diana's stepfather had, which would prove that they'd been cheated. In fact, this land they're working should rightfully belong to them. After seeing his parents shot and killed, Silver Feather knows his life is in danger and so he runs and hides in the cotton fields until he can sneak away without being detected. Diana came looking for him. Fearing a trap but also trusting in his friendship with Diana, Silver Feather reveals himself to her. Diana warns him of her stepfather's anger and hides Silver Feather in the hidden passageways while she looks for the paperwork proving his father's claims of being cheated. If the papers are found, Silver Feather would be able to claim the Choctawa's rightful land as well as free them from their slavery. When Diana still has not found the papers after several days of searching, Silver Feather knows he must leave, he knows that he cannot endanger Diana any longer. Brokenhearted, they are forced to say their good-byes, both believing they will never see each other again. With vivid, unforgettable characters, SILVER FEATHER brings life in the 1800's into your imagination with a wonderfully heart-touching story of a forbidden love that wouldn't be denied. Silver Feather was only fourteen years old when he was forced into running for his life after the deaths of his parents. He left everything he knew and loved behind, not knowing what fate would await him or what kind of future he'd have. Diana's strength and determination in the face of incredible odds are amazing. She'd lost everything when her stepfather died, and yet she is willing to do everything she can to survive without depending on a man for anything. Finding each other years after their separation, they bravely face down their foes to reclaim their love and land. As a longtime reader of Cassie Edwards' novels, I thoroughly enjoyed reading this newest story and living vicariously through the characters. SILVER FEATHER is Cassie Edwards ninetieth published book. Chrissy Dionne (courtesy of Romance Junkies)

I loved it

Diana is separated from her childhood love, a young Indian brave named Silver Feather, by her step-father's treachery. But Diana and Silver Feather never stop dreaming of one another, and are reunited years later when they are all grown up. However, many enemies lurk in the shadows who would try to tear them apart. The previous reviewer is right that the love story here is very simple, and very sweet. So if you don't like the mushy stuff, watch out. But I found it a great antidote to all those books where the hero and heroine act like they hate each other, and are constantly sniping at one another, will sleep with each other but refuse to love each other, and accuse, hurt, and betray one another. This hero and heroine are deeply in love, and they act like it. The tension and crises come from outside forces that would attempt to rip them apart, but their love for one another doesn't waver. I got this book from the library, but am thinking of buying a copy to keep. A great "comfort read."
