The straight skinny is that this south-of-the-border action/thriller/war/bodice-ripper/crotch-tightener dares go where damn few will dare, and thankfully so.The realities and contingencies incumbent on carrying on successful insurgencies in the third-world are unglossed and deliciously laid open for the incautious reader. "Discretion is the better part of valor" are the watchwords for our Captain Gringo, and especially for his gritty little frog friend, Gaston.Babes fall upon them at regular intervals, only to later fall to the rapid machine-gunfire pace of the plot falling into place. Gargantuan indiscretions of hilariously voluminous proportions ensue with the fairer sex. Check your bull***t meter at the door.An interesting paradox. The military travails are emminently believable, the damsel conquests much less so. Then again, perhaps we all should spend more time south of the border....?Enjoy.

Risque But Educational

Although this title earns its genre labeling of "Adult Fiction," its historical context and treatment of war and battle is beyond compare. I read this complete series as a youth and learned much about love and war from an educated, experienced, unfiltered perspective. Long live Captain Gringo!
