Book Overview

Acclaimed author Joyce Dunbar teams up with an exciting new talent - her illustrator daughter, Polly - for this singsong tale of a baby who takes to the sea, the air, and the shops - in a shoe! There once was a baby Who lived in a shoe And had learned how to say, "How do you do?" For one adventurous baby, there's no limit to the places you can go when using a shoe as a mode of transportation. Sailing by dolphins, tootling to the zoo, flying with birds,...

Wonderful children's book!

I originally stumbled upon this book at the library, but my son loved it so much (and I loved reading it to him), so we had to get a copy of our own. The artwork is mesmerizing, and the rhyme is clever and fun to read--and doesn't grate on me the way Green Eggs and Ham does after the fifth reading. I recommed this as a must-have for your baby's library.

You'll have to hide it

Children between 18 and 24 months love this book. Parents may find they need a break from repeated readings (how many times can you say "How do you do?" with enthusiasm?).

a perfect read-out-loud!

This is a great children's book with excellent illustrations (different textures of materials are used) and the shoe theme is done very well. I read it to my two boys, ages 2 years and 18 months and they both LOVED it! (we had it out from the library and even took an extention to keep it longer!) our favorite part was the repetition: "how do you do?" and the funny stuff like "so dozy, so cozy so tickety-boo"... and "dreamed a bright dream of a pink kakatoo" saying "toodle-oo", and the daddy making a "fuss and a hullabaloo". I can't recommend this children's book enough!!

We love it!!

My 2 year old adores this book. The illustrations are wonderful and they rhyming story is imaginative in just the way that toddlers are imaginative. It doesn't really make a whole lot of sense but so what!? Our favorite part is when the baby goes to sleep in his shoe and he's "So dozy, so cozy, so tickety-boo" We don't know what tickety-boo is but we love to say it. This is really really cute book.

Wonderful book!

My 14 month old daughter loves this book! I got it for her because she truly is a "shoe baby" and loves putting on everyones shoes in the house she comes across no matter how big they are on her! Fun book to read with a cute story and colorful illustrations!
