From New York Times and USA Today bestseller Michael Prescott, author of FINAL SINS and COLD AROUND THE HEART, comes a terrifying story of obsession and murder. On a bad night in L.A., shy and timid... This description may be from another edition of this product.
I've read many books by many popular authors but I believe Brian Harper is the best at his genre by far. From a technical standpoint, 'Shiver' is so well written. It has pace, plot, depth, style, building tension - you can't ask anything more from an author. It's the top 1 or 2 of my favorite books(I've read about 100 in 3 or 4 years). Of the popular authors, I've read J.Patterson, RN Patterson, crighton, koontz, grisham, grippando, Sanders, etc, but I have to say Harper is the most polished by far. Every paragraph has a purpose, every word is thought out. Some authors write just for a paycheck - but not Harper. 'Shiver' has style, it get's better and better, you're heart really starts racing - I love that and expect it in a thriller. The charecters have depth and they're believable. Wendy's heroics however may have been a bit of a stretch at times but still, she was great. It's a great book, such a quality book, it's entertaining ! It's one of the few books I'd be willing to recommend to a non-reader. I'd give it an 11 if I could. Keep em coming Mr. Harper

this book was a lot of fun to read. It took you inside the mind of killer and victim. The book follows a serial killer from his first kill to his more calculated kills. It also follows his final victim from the days before through the days after his first attempt. It gives you a great sense of "being there". I felt that this book was interesting in the fact that it gave you two killers in one - a serial killer with a wide-spread objective to a single minded killer with only one goal/target in his sights. Definitely a good read.
A great book!!! It draws you in from page one!!!

This was the second Brian Harper book I read, and I was not disappointed. The story starts with a prologue in which the Gryphon kills his first victim. Chapter one begins with LAPD dectective Sebastian Delgado's tiresome hunt for the Gryphon years after the first murder. After that, the suspense builds as the Gryphon kills one victim after another...until Wendy Alden escapes when he tries to kill her. What follows will keep even the most restless reader on the edge of his/her seat. "Shiver" has a surprising conclusion as Delgado's sharp detective mind finally clues in to the Gryphon's mysterious ways. A realistic, thrilling novel with an accurate depiction of police life in the large city. It's a definite "don't miss" for suspense fans.
