The Zen of a Beer Can

Well, I guess there is something to the New York School revival, because Maggie Nelson's poetry is more evidence of an inspired blend of quotidian particulars, wit, and attitude. Nelson begins one poem with remembering how she once associated Zen with wisdom. Now, however, she intends to buy "as much beer as five dollars will buy and drink it right here on the sofa." The poem is entitled "A Misunderstanding." The subtle intelligence at work here is very sexy.
