Good stories and tips for finding missing pets

Is this guy for real? Yes, "Sherlock Bones" is the name of Keane's one-man detective agency that specialzes in finding lost pets. (Ot at least, he did -- the book was first published in the 1970s. But the content is still relevant today.) There are some good human interest stories here, as well as some harsh realities about what happens to pets that end up in shelters. (If you call a shelter and you think your pet is there, go IMMEDIATELY to pick it up -- too many owners wait too long and then discover their pet was "accidentally" euthanized.) In the last chapter, Keane also gives excellent advice about finding your lost pet, such as: Don't rely on newspaper ads alone -- use posters and LOTS of them in the area where your pet was lost. Don't assume you will get your animla back because of tags -- pets lose collars, people take them off. Take some good quality pics of your pet to have for ID. Keane says to use black & white back in the 70s, but nowadays you can get posters printed in color very cheaply -- or make them on your own computer. Still, converting a digital pic to B & W is not a bad idea just in case. Offer a reward for "information leading to" recovery -- not necesarily for the pet itself, becase sometimes a tip is all you need. Stress you just want the animal back, no qustions asked. And most importantly, start looking IMMEDIATELY after you realize your pet is missing. Don't wait for even a day -- hours count!

Great , sensitive stories

A rare find, I was lucky a friend knowing I was an avid pet lover ran across an old copy of this true gem of a little book. Take time to read these heartwarming true adventures, i enjoyed so much on vacation, I am now searching this author in hopes of finding some more, of his work, in this area. Sad that it's out of print, but go the extra mile to get it, well worth the read. Timeless, and great help for pet lovers if you do in fact lose your dog.
