She'll Be Coming 'round the Mountain

We checked this out at the local library and I've already renewed it once. It's time to buy a copy so someone else at the library can discover what a wonderful timeless treat. My two-year old daughter loves the illustrations and doing the motions and sounds that go along, "slurp slurp" being her favorite. This is such a creative updgrade from the original song we all learned as children.

My 4-year-old daughter got this book first at our local library. We both loved it so much that we had to buy it for her collection. You can't just read this book, you have to sing it. It's so much fun. My daughter just laughs everytime she opens it up. The back of the book provides hand motions to all the new verses of this well known kids song. I guarantee you'll love this book. It's great!

We picked this up originally on the "new books" shelf at the library. My five year daughter is drawn to anything with horses + anything sing-songy so it was a double bonus! Cute illustrations on an oversized book. The story is about a little girl coming to town w/ a new twist on the old lyrics ... "She'll be wearing pink pajamas when she comes" ... and includes hand motions for each new verse at the back of the book. (For example you read the above verse and then the child says "yee-ha" and makes a lassoing motion.) Hard to explain here but really keeps kids engaged. I think we read it three times through in one sitting so she could learn all the motions for each phrase. Returned this to the library and bought our own copy. Yee ha!
